Mangesh Desai Announces Aajibainchi Shala, Siddharth Salvi to Debut as Director in 2027
After Dharmaveer and Dharmaveer 2, Mangesh Desai is backing Aajibainchi Shala, a Marathi film marking Siddharth Salvi's directorial debut. Scheduled for 2027, the film aims to connect generations through entertainment and life lessons.
Salvi has established his identity through his writing for plays, television series and films. He has been associated with creative works such as Punha Shivaji Raje Bhosale, Hi Anokhi Gath, Athang and Vadapav. After gaining experience as a writer, he is now getting the opportunity to bring a story to the screen through his own directorial vision.
Speaking about his directorial debut, Salvi said, “After writing for plays, television series and films, I am genuinely happy to take up the responsibility of directing. As a writer, when you express a story through words, its world takes shape in your mind. However, as a director, the responsibility of bringing that same world to life on screen is different.”
Salvi also said he was determined that his first film as a director should be rooted in his own soil and its people. He expressed confidence that Aajibainchi Shala would offer substantial entertainment while also conveying a message to audiences.
The film's team is currently searching for senior actresses who will become part of the school depicted in the story. According to Salvi, the subject explores the wisdom gained through experience and the values that are gradually being lost amid changing times. The story has the potential to connect the younger generation with the experiences of the older generation, bringing together social awareness and entertainment.

Mangesh Desai, who produced the Dharmaveer films, said the audience's response to Dharmaveer and Dharmaveer 2 encouraged him to explore something different and engaging. He said the subject and title of Aajibainchi Shala particularly appealed to him, adding that Siddharth Salvi's story would generate curiosity among viewers.
Desai further said that a film's impact lasts longer when it does more than entertain and also encourages audiences to think. Through Aajibainchi Shala, the team intends to introduce viewers to a new and different world.
With the film scheduled for release in 2027, audiences will have to wait to discover what the school will teach and what lessons its characters will share. The search for senior actresses and Salvi's transition from writing to directing are among the key developments surrounding the upcoming Marathi film.
